While commenting on the recent decision by El Salvador’s government to accept Bitcoin as a payment method, Gabriel Silva, a prominent crypto backer and a congressman in Panama, called on his country to do the same.
In his Twitter post, Panama’s politician said that his country must make a similar move and accept the new technology to become the regional technological hub. He added,
This is important. And Panama cannot be left behind. If we want to be a true technology and entrepreneurship hub, we have to support cryptocurrencies. We will be preparing a proposal to present at the Assembly. If you are interested in building it, you can contact me.
His comments came soon after Nayib Bukele took to Twitter and announced El Salvador’s decision to move a motion in the parliament to accept the world’s most famous crypto asset as a payment option across the country.
Silva now joins the ranks of a handful of politicians who back the crypto assets, including El Salvador’s President and a parliamentarian from Paraguay.
